Captain's Blog - Initial Submission

First things first, we’ve got to outline what we’re doing here, and create some Lorem Ipsum to help us learn how to navigate this site…

My goals here are as diverse as the site will hopefully eventually be, so for the sake of a first post let’s talk a little about how I got here, and what I hope we’ll eventually find together.

I’m a Sonofa-Sonofa-Sailor and I grew up on the Chesapeake, hence one part of the theme we’re trying out here of Captain Hooke’s blog… I’ve been a Battery Engineer for 10+ years now since graduating from Northeastern in 2016 (though my first EChem was back in 2013, at Infinium Metals who are no longer around). I’ve worked in Boston –> Pittsburgh –> Shanghai –> Seattle, and am now back to Boston (Somerville) at Form Energy, somehow always in Aqueous (Water-Based) Battery chemistry.

For the past 2.5+ years, I have lived in the historic McIntire district of Salem, MA with my wife (Who within this blog shall be known as “The Librarian” ) and our beloved Calico Calliope (Who may get nicknames, but will be in my photos/videos so there’s no keeping that private). On a day-to-day basis we may seem to fit more alongside the History and old-Salemite side of town, but we have no shortage of good good spooky credit in our past - we even got married at Edgar Allen Poe’s grave in Baltimore, MD!

In addition to simply re-establishing a website for the fun and pride of it, I hope to use this to both Share and Motivate my diverse array of personal projects, not limited to the areas of:

• Crochet, Sewing, and Costuming (novice) - Even getting into Shuttle Tatting!
• Hobby Electronics and Historical Scientific Demonstrations.
• Engaging in the Culture and History of Salem.
• Electrochemical Remediation, Scale-Up, and other Academia-from-Home.
